Apple MacBook 2.4GHz 13" Laptop for $850 (after... →
If you’ve been looking to get a Mac laptop, this is the current version of the cheapest MacBook available.
Keep in mind there’s a $105 mail-in rebate, so your initial cost will be $955 (the article also mentions that the unit is supposed to be in stock until October 1 and the rebate expires 9/30. I’m guessing they honor orders placed before 9/30, but that’s definitely...

Restless Christian: Pulpit Freedom Sunday →
Congress passed a law restricting freedom of speech for clergy, specifically by denying them the ability to:
participate in, or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition
to, any candidate for public office
This law is a requirement for any church which wants to retain its tax exempt status, which previously had been given without any such restrictions.
Now a...

– Don Draper, Mad Men s04e08, “The Summer Man”
(I had fallen behind on Mad Men. I heard everyone start to rave about how the season had gone, starting with s04e07. It may have started there, but I think this episode was even better.)

Last.fm? →
I’m probably the last person on earth to join Last.fm but I’m there now so you can stop worrying.
If you are too, please let me know, although I don’t know how much attention I’ll end of giving it.
Also: What do the cool kids use to send their “this is what I’m listening to on iTunes” information to Last.fm for other people to silently judge them?

Not surprisingly, some worshipers at Sunday worship services put casino chips, rather than cash, in the offering plate.
Since they get chips from many different casinos, the churches have devised a method to collect the offerings.
The churches send all their collected chips...

So while America’s Republicans turned ‘climate change’ into a four-letter word —...
– Thomas L. Friedman’s column is one of today’s NYTimes most-emailed. Here’s more:
“There is really no debate about climate change in China,” said Peggy Liu, chairwoman of the Joint U.S.-China Collaboration on Clean Energy, a nonprofit group working to accelerate the greening of China. “China’s...
