First crush what?
Anyone who didn’t want to either be him or be with him is either lying or was too old/young/not born when Star Wars came out in ‘77.
Because this was the guy who was cool under pressure, wasn’t afraid to fucking fire first when the situation called for it, the guy who came through when you needed him even when you had written him off. He was a better guy than he wanted anyone to know, and certainly the guy you wanted on your side in a fight.
He had arguably the best line of the entire 6 movies.
No, I don’t mean the line from Empire when he said “I know” when Leia said “I love you”. The best line, his best line:
“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no substitute for a good blaster at your side.”
It’s a good line, but the way he delivered it was the real kicker.
He wasn’t trying to convince anyone. He wasn’t entering into a discussion or an argument. He was just stating it as fact. Pure, practical, common sense.
Which reminds me of a question (which will follow in a separate post).
