Spy Games

inthefade:

is anyone else concerned about their twitter friends timeline suddenly being filled with tweets by people playing a twitter-based game, or am I just a stupid bitch who doesn’t know how to have fun?

Earlier today I posted:

I just killed a hobo #spymaster

which immediately elicited this response:

@tj Unfollowed for #spymaster spam.

I have no idea who the fuck Curt Monash is, but I clarified for him:

@CurtMonash That was a joke, but don’t let the door hit your humorless ass on the way out (FYI actual updates link to http://bit.ly/playspy)

I don’t see how this is any worse than auto-Tweeting your Tumblr posts or your Blip “likes”, etc. But I don’t do any of those, and tend to find them annoying if they happen regularly (I’m a big fan of people manually posting links on Twitter if they think there’s something of particular interest, but auto-Tweeting rubs me the wrong way). FWIW.

The spy master game looks fun, but I don’t see the need for the Twitter element other than advertising the game, so I doubt I’ll play.

(Not that I’d have much time anyway, since I’m headed to two weeks of what I suspect will be intensive classes.)
