ProTip for Reblogging on the iPhone
Goodness I wish reblogging in order to make a comment on iPhone were not an endeavor filled with poo.“Best” trick for adding a comment to the end of a long post:
- Reblog
- Tap text view
- “Select All”
- Copy
- If necessary “Select All” again
- Paste
The pasted text replaces the selected text, which is exactly the same. Now your cursor is at the end of the text, no matter how long it is. Only works on 3.0 because of the copy-and-paste, obviously.
Still sucks, though.
You can scroll a textarea field contents up and down by using two finger scrolling on the textarea. This won’t scroll the page nor zoom out, it’ll just scroll the content inside the textarea.
This allows you to just scroll straight to the empty <p></p> that Tumblr adds at the end. Tap in there and start typing away. It’s a lot easier :)
Holy crap! Faruk FTMFW!
When I try this (2 finger scrolling), Tumblr kicks me out.
What most mentions of two-finger text input scrolling fail to mention is that it works *before* you select the field for input, not after.
In other words, do the scrolling before you bring up the keyboard.
With Tumblr, you still need to dismiss the keyboard and bring it back up again to be able to see the end of the field, though.
Select All, Cut, Paste takes fewer gestures and gets you where you can start typing (and see what your typing) faster.
My iPhone reblog process requires more steps but they are easier and require no dexterity:
Select all
Cut
Home button
Notes/Mail (compose new)
Paste
Type reply
Select all
Cut
Home button
Safari
Paste
Write Tumblr about how their reblog UI on the iPhone sucks dead donkey balls
