March 2004. We took The Boy to the zoo. The Seattle Zoo, I think. We were on our epic west coast vacation, probably the best vacation we’ve ever had.

Anyway, he stood like this for about 5 minutes.

Anyone who has been around a 22 month old for any length of time knows what that means:

He was filling that diaper.

Just stood there, looking around, totally crapping his pants. Every now & again a slight grunt.

I don’t envy the zoo employee who had to empty the trash can that had that diaper in it. I’d put it up there with anything those animals could dish out.
