For real, guys. Randy isn’t just some random metal dude. He’s good people. He pays his taxes, lives quite humbly, supports locally-owned businesses wherever he goes (in particular, indie bookstores and music outlets), has been a greatly supportive friend to me for almost a decade, and is a wonderful Uncle-figure to my girls (tolerating, among other indignities, their playfully beating up on him, putting flowers in his hair, etc.). 

What’s more, he is innocent. Read up about the situation, contact media outlets, reach out to governmental agencies, sign the White House petition, talk about this. We’ve got to bring our brother home.

Some of you may remember that I met Randy on my birthday with Elizabeth. During the show he dedicated Contractor to me in honor of my birthday. After the show we talked literature, music and religion. Upon learning that we were Jewish he said to wait because he had something for us on the tour bus. I figured some Israeli trinket of some kind from their recent trip there. All the same a very kind a generous gesture from of friend of a friend to a perfect stranger. He came back with a ziplock bag of dirt and rocks. He said, “This is Israel.” It was earth from near the wailing wall that he had smuggled back specifically to give to Jewish friends of his. Randy is good, kind and thoughtful. He deserves justice. He’d ask the same for you.
