Kally told us about Believe: The Eddie Izzard Story the other night when she was over. It’s from 2009, but I hadn’t heard about it.
It’s a documentary of Eddie Izzard’s life and career, including what led him to quit comedy in 2000, and what it was like for him to make his way back.
Highly recommended. (And I say this as someone who is not a huge fan of documentaries.)
If you know who Eddie is, you’ll love the behind the scenes look.
If you don’t know who Eddie is, a) shame on you, and b) this is a good intro, and then you can go watch Dress To Kill, which I am willing to call The Princess Bride of comedy shows. If you haven’t seen it, you won’t know where all those quotes come from (“Cake or death?”) or why I have to avoid making eye contact with The Wife anytime we sing “Oh God Our Help In Ages Past” at church.
