  • Router question

    stupon:

As many of you already know, our house will be rather full soon; with that in mind we are looking into getting a stronger router. We were looking at the Linksys EA4500 but a friend said that he has the Mac AirPort Extreme and he loves it. I am like Sergeant Schultz, I know nothing. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get the AirPort. It’s better. A refurb will be fine:

The “guest network” is especially nice for the poopdeck guests. You can have a guest network that cannot access your local computers.

You can also set “time of day” access per device, such as “this iPod touch can only get online between 6-8pm on week nights.”

I wrote about why the AirPort is worth more than the average router you’re going to find at Wal-Mart here:

    19. tj said: I’ve queued up a fuller reply, but long story short: get the AirPort Extreme. Get a refurb if you want to save some $$.
