  • Dr Wife was watching Alien (which she had not seen before) and we were chatting via iMessage. This was at the end of the movie…

Rachel: Oh good lord she’s smart.

TJ: I knew you’d like her :-)

Rachel: It’s over!

TJ: OR IS IT?

Rachel: Stop it. The credits are rolling.

TJ: OR ARE THEY?

Rachel: I CAN SEE THEM WITH MY OWN TWO EYES, TJ.

TJ: OR CAN YOU? Scientists have yet to discover how neural networks create self-consciousness, let alone how the human brain processes two-dimensional retinal images into the three-dimensional phenomenon known as perception. Yet you somehow brazenly declare that seeing is believing?

Rachel: Have you heard of binocular disparity?!

TJ: Is that when I have binoculars but you don’t?

Rachel: It’s part of how the brain “processes two-dimensional retinal images into the three-dimensional phenomenon known as perception.”

TJ: I’m sorry, are you questioning my quote from The X-Files?

Rachel: I’m questioning your knowledge of sensation and perception psychology.

TJ: I’ll take that as a ‘no’…

This has been another episode of “Dumb Guys Argue With Smart Women.”
