  • Mottos

Landon asked for personal mottos on Facebook, and I realized that I had several. I’ve probably mentioned them all before, but I like having them in one place. Maybe I’ll add to the list in time.

    ~One~

If I had to choose one I would be:

Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

It was on a poster over the Xerox machine at the church where I did my internship.

    ~Two~

    Illegitimi non carborundum

    Wikipedia says:

Illegitimi non carborundum is a mock-Latin aphorism meaning “Don’t let the bastards grind you down”.

    ~Three~

“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.” —Hanlon’s razor

    ~Four~

Cast your eye upon the donut, and not upon the hole.

(“Be more grateful for what you have than regretful for what you don’t.” That’s obvious, right? OK, just checking.)

My Dad taught me 2, 3, and 4.

    ~Five~

The key to life is how well you deal with Plan B.

That was on a sign in the office of the loan officer who got us our first mortgage (and has nothing to do with the morning-after pill … just in case you were confused).

Seems like there are others I can’t remember at the moment.

    And yours are…?
