~ My mom invented the Hipster Address Book… 45 years ago ~

This is my mother’s address book.

It’s a recipe box with index cards on it.

On each card is one name (or the name of a couple), and their address.

On the top right of the card is their phone number.

On the back of the card are important dates: birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

If someone moves, she crosses out the address and writes the new one underneath. Same with the phone number. But most of her friends are “established” so they aren’t moving or changing phone numbers all that often.

Sure, it doesn’t sync with her home phone, her cell phone, or her email. But she’s estimates she’s been using the same system for 45 years, and it’s no doubt never been corrupted, never had a privacy breach, never had to be done completely over because she moved from one system (or computer) to another.

So who am I to judge?

I have spent about 6 hours trying to un-FUBAR my contacts between iOS, OS X, and Gmail.

I’m pretty much ready to be done with syncing. I think Mom had it right.
