Hello everyone, I made it after being bullied by a stewardess in London and screwed over by a stupid hipster guy at Mail Boxes Etc. (resulting in two of my suitcases being blocked in Memphis). I am also happy to report that I successfully smuggled a hot pink Swiss army knife.
Thank you all so very much for your sweet messages! I’ll be writing more when I am back to being human.
Much much love,
— From SF.
Reblogged for “From SF”.
About 9 months since that weekend in Boston when I first met Jason and he talked about this girl.
At the risk of sounding stupid or arrogant (HAHAHAHA! SHIP SAILED!), I think I may be the ~3rd happiest person to know Anna’s finally here “for keeps.”
The Wife and I spent 3 months apart one summer (about 6 hours by car!) and it was awful. The international thing is mind-(and heart) boggling.
Glad you made it safely, Anna.
Have you heard about the tradition of honeymooning in Chicago? Oh yeah, it’s totally a thing.
Then it occurred to me what it would sound like if Anna took Jason’s name when they got married.
A few minutes in Fission and QuickTime later, out came this MP3.
No offense, Jason, but I’m kind of hoping she keeps her name. There’s something so refined and classy about the French part of it, but the American part, while enthusiastic, just doesn’t seem to fit too well with it.
(PERMENTER said that he met Anna a year ago today, so it seems like a good time to tell you about the time I met her.)
I’m pretty sure I told Anna this story when I met her (after putting down my drink so I could crush her petite frame with a giant, ungainly hug).
When I met PERMENTER! in Boston last summer, he was talking about this girl he had met, but she lived in another country (I didn’t know where at the time).
He was talking about how amazing it was with Skype that he could just talk to her — and see her — anytime. “So… maybe the distance doesn’t matter so much…” More than once he slipped away from the group awhile we were at the hotel to go talk with her on the computer.
Mind you, I had never met him before and didn’t know him at all except for Twitter, but I remember thinking two things:
We live in an amazing time. 100 years ago they probably never would have met, and even if they had — then what? Letters? Once a week if you were lucky?
This guy has it bad for this girl. When he was talking about her, he had this far-away look in his eyes, and a smile that just came from somewhere deep within him.
It was four months later when she gave him a watch and they were engaged, and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier for any two people.
I only got to talk to Anna for a few minutes, but she was completely delightful, and as tempted as I was to put her in my pocket, I settled for a firm embrace and told her how much I loved the two of them. I hope I didn’t frighten her. It was just very exciting to finally meet her and see the two of them together.
via here and here which probably means I should have just reblogged it but I hadn’t caught up on Tumblr and slept like 3 hours last night so you can just shut your piehole already. Gawd.
