Also interesting: Google’s ad shows completely different results for cafes near the louvre than searching in real life.

That doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that would completely change.

I originally started looking at the Google ad because I wanted to see if they had omitted any ‘autocomplete’ suggestions (given that we see a fair number of strange ones around here).

I didn’t find any.

At 00:38 it shows that they are tracking flight status of a plane on 28 Sep 2009, so the ad is a few months old. You’d expect there would be some differences. For example, when they start typing “churches in paris” there’s a match for “cash for clunkers”:

I also found the suggestions for “churches” to be… interesting:

that’s probably the biggest change since the original search date (current results shown here):

Finally: “How to assemble a crib” is now the number one suggestion if you type “how to ass”
